about
Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats is the product of Newfoundland musician Ken Tizzard as he returns to his roots combining his passion for folk, bluegrass, punk and country. For 25 years Tizzard has filled out the low end as the propulsive bassist behind The Watchmen, co-founder and bassist for Canada’s 90’s rock band Thornley and also with Newfoundland’s greatest troubadour Ron Hynes.
Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats is made up of a cast of characters that have been moving about in Tizzard’s life for several years. All discovered in Tizzard’s current hometown of Campbellford, Ontario, Neil Lucy(guitar), Steve Dagg(drums) and Ken Grant(bass) the Goats are ready to share their new sound with the release of “End Of The World.” Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats plan to release three singles in 2021 followed up by a full length LP in Spring of 2022.
“End Of The World” is a fun and upbeat song reflecting the world around us. Tangled guitars, expressive vocals, catchy chorus and a tight groove on the low end make this 2:22 song one of Tizzard’s first “pop” songs in recent history.
In 2020 Tizzard and the Goats recorded a live album composed of Tizzard’s back catalogue titled “Living The Dream” which was followed up at the end of the year with “Sketches Of Christmas.” During the last thee years the band explored new arrangements using acoustic and electric instruments combining elements of Tizzard’s past musical experiences in the world or rock, country, bluegrass and folk. Tizzard’s musical versatility has become a signature, as he once explained, "In the past, I've battled a lot with trying to find a character or niche with my music. Now I realize that maybe I'm a guy who doesn't do the same thing twice. Every record I've done has moved me in a different direction and onto a different career path. That's fine and it's fun!"
“End Of The World” is the first original song from Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats. Written during Tizzard’s time in Ottawa while his wife was undergoing a stem-cell bone marrow transplant to help with her battle with MS. The material from this time is currently being recorded for a full length album in early 2022.
lyrics
I don’t wanna hear about your new sensation
I don’t want to reconnect my old relations
I don’t want to hear your frustrations
all of the time
It doesn’t take a genius to see that she’s a girl
It doesn’t take a genius to rule a broken world
It doesn’t take a genius to ignore the facts
all of the time
No sense in asking
is this the end of the world
we’ll know its over when it’s done
there’s so many ways I pictured in my head
but I never saw that one
Close truths are dangerous
rumours and lies
far from the truth and nobody’s surprised
we’re all too busy watching Peaky Blinders
all of the time
Sometimes it’s okay to go out side your door
Sometimes it’s okay to clean a dirty floor
just remember to eash your hands
all of the time
No sense in asking
is this the end of the world
we’ll know its over when it’s done
there’s so many ways I pictured in my head
but I never saw this one
